community pattern fund

Knitters are often asking how they can support me in providing more free material, and the Community Pattern Fund helps me provide limited quantities of new premium patterns, eBooks or workshops at free or heavily discounted rates to knitters with limited budgets.

A number of my forever free patterns are now available as premium versions with varying prices:

  • a $9 premium free pattern gets converted to one single premium pattern - buy on Ravelry or Payhip

  • a $8 premium free pattern gets converted to one third of a premium eBook - buy on Ravelry or Payhip

  • a $12 premium free pattern gets converted to one half of a premium eBook - buy on Ravelry or Payhip

  • a $23 premium free pattern gets converted to one premium eBook - buy on Ravelry or Payhip

  • a $25 premium free pattern gets converted to a third or a half of an online workshop - buy on Ravelry or Payhip

  • a $75 premium free pattern gets converted to a full online workshop of the same value - buy on Ravelry or Payhip

As new ePatterns, eBooks and eWorkshops are published, I will set up specific coupon codes that knitters can use to buy these new publications for free, and knitters will be notified of the codes exclusively via The Woolly Hat Society newsletter. The number of units available via the codes will exactly match the number of units that have been purchased at each price point. Folks can buy as many of the Community Fund Patterns as they like, and the number of units are tracked via the Ravelry system, which makes it easy for me to provide such a service with minimal admin.

These coupon codes will be available for a limited time after release, usually 2 weeks. Any unused codes will be carried over, or should all codes be used, the pot will start afresh after the two-week period. While the codes are active folks can continue to purchase extra units that will be added to the pot available during the same two-week window

When the newsletter goes out members are kindly asked not to share these promotions with freebie pattern groups around the internet, particularly on Ravelry or Facebook – these groups exist to collect free ePatterns for the sake of it, whereas this project is about providing free premium ePatterns to folk who need them and will use them. Members of The Woolly Hat Society have always been respectful and rarely shared previous promotion codes with non-members - I trust that this will continue!

If you’re looking for a way to help me provide more forever free ePatterns and eTutorials, can I suggest Patreon?

Thank you for your continued support in helping me make my designs and tutorials available to all!
