Description

My Dear Stalker is an earflap Hat. The earflaps are long and worked in moss (seed) stitch. The rest of the Hat is worked in stocking stitch. The earflaps can be worn folded up, where they are secured by a small I-cord at the crown via a buttonhole at the end of each earflap.

Continue in this manner, increasing 7 sts per round, until you have 56 [63, 70] sts

Body

Now work Stocking Stitch by knitting every round until work measures 7.25 [7.5, 8] in/18 [19, 20] cm from base of I-cord.

Earflaps

Next Rnd: Cast off 6 [7, 8] sts, K12 [13, 14](1st ear-flap), cast off 20 [23, 26] sts, K12 [13, 14](2nd ear-flap), cast off 6 [ 7, 8] sts.

Break yarn and rejoin yarn to 1st ear-flap with right side of work facing.

Next row: ssk, [P1, K1] (4, 4, 5) times, P 0 [1, 0], k2tog [10, 11, 12 sts]

Moss (Seed) stitch:

Row 1: K 0 (1, 0), *[P1, K1]; rpt from * to end

Row 2: *K1, P1; rpt from * to end, K 0 (1, 0)

Work Moss (Seed) stitch until ear-flap measures 6.75 [7.25, 7.5] in/17 [18, 19] cm.

Next row: Keeping Moss (Seed) stitch continuous, work 4 [4, 5] sts in pattern, yo, k2tog, work in Moss (Seed) stitch pattern to end

Next row: Work Moss (seed) stitch

Next row: ssk, work Moss (seed) stitch to last 2 sts, k2tog

Repeat this last row until 2 [3, 2] sts remain then cast off.

Rejoin yarn to 2nd ear-flap with right side of work facing. Work to match 1st ear-flap.

Finishing

Weave in all ends. A gentle wash and blocking is required to help the increase lines settle in and lay flat.

To wear up, thread the I-cord through the eyelets at the end of the ear-flaps, and then tie a little knot.
