Description

Houndale is a comfort fit Hat with a ribbed brim and garter stitch body. The garter stitch is punctuated by 4 equidistant columns of single knit stitches. The columns work into the crown where the shaping is incorporated into the pattern.

Body

Change to 8mm needles then proceed as follows:

Rnd 1: *K1tbl, P 11 [13, 15, 17]; rpt from * to end

Rnd 2: *S1tbl, K 11 [13, 15, 17]; rpt from * to end

Repeat these 2 rounds until work measures 6 [7, 8, 9] in/15.25 [17.75, 20.25, 22.75] cm including the Brim, ending after Rnd 1.

Crown

Rnd 1: *S1tbl, K1, [k2tog, ssk] 2 [3, 3, 4] times, k2tog 1 [0, 1, 0] times; rpt from * to end [28, 32, 36, 40 sts]

Rnd 3: *S1tbl, K 0 [1, 0, 1], [k2tog, ssk] 1 [1, 2, 2] times, k2tog 1 [1, 0, 0] times; rpt from * to end [16, 20, 20, 24 sts]

Rnd 4: *K1tbl, P 3 [4, 4, 5]; rpt from * to end

Rnd 5: *S1tbl, K 1 [0, 0, 1], [k2tog] 1 [2, 2, 2] times, rpt from * to end [12, 12, 12, 16 sts]

Break yarn and draw through remaining 12 [12, 12, 16] sts, tighten to close.
